The Kenyan Tennis Federation reveals the secret of the participation of the Egyptian Hagar Abdel Qader in Nairobi

Khaberni - The Spanish newspaper "AS" revealed new details about the controversial match in the "W35" tournament in Nairobi, where the Egyptian player Hagar Abdel Qader lost with a score of (6-0, 6-0) amid sharp questions about her technical level, which does not qualify her for participation in professional matches.

"AS" reported an official statement issued by the Kenyan Tennis Federation, explaining that Hagar Abdel Qader was granted a Wild Card because she was the only player who applied to participate at that time, after another player withdrew at the last moment.

The statement published by the Spanish newspaper said: "The Egyptian player arrived on Tuesday morning and obtained the vacant seat with the aim of maintaining the completeness of the tournament schedule and supporting the growth of tennis in Africa, based on the information available at the time."

The Kenyan Federation acknowledged in its statement that the invitation "should not have been granted" to that player, admitting a mistake in assessing her technical level which caused widespread ridicule on social media after videos of her match against the German player Lorena Scheid were circulated.

"AS" concluded its report by referring to the Kenyan Federation's commitment to a rigorous review of player data in the future to ensure that such incidents do not recur, reaffirming its commitment to the standards of integrity and transparency in organizing continental competitions.
