Khaberni - OpenAI announced the launch of a new feature within its famous platform "ChatGPT" named ChatGPT Health, to provide a dedicated space for discussing health and wellness topics, at a time when more than 230 million users weekly inquire about health-related topics on the platform.
This feature aims to separate health conversations from general chats for users, preventing the appearance of sensitive medical context in unrelated discussions. If a user initiates a health discussion outside the Health section, the system might suggest moving to the dedicated space. The company explains that this organization aims to enhance privacy and create a more focused experience for users, according to tribune.
The ChatGPT Health feature allows artificial intelligence to pull limited context from other conversations. For example, if a user has previously discussed marathon training, the system might recognize them as a runner when providing fitness-related advice in the health section.
The feature will also be integrated with health and fitness apps like Apple Health, Function, and MyFitnessPal, allowing users to refer to their personal health data if they wish.
Fidji Simo, the CEO of Apps at OpenAI, via the official blog, stated that ChatGPT Health is designed to address systemic challenges in the healthcare sector, including rising costs, difficulty accessing doctors, pressure on hospital systems, and gaps in continuity of care. Simo emphasized that the product aims to provide supportive information to users, not as a substitute for doctors or medical specialists.
Meanwhile, the company acknowledged the risks associated with using artificial intelligence in health discussions, explaining that large language models generate answers based on probabilities and not confirmed facts, and may sometimes provide inaccurate or misleading information.
OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT is not used for diagnosing or treating medical conditions, a warning already present in the terms of service.
It is expected that the ChatGPT Health feature will be available to all users in the coming weeks, as the company continues to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of using artificial intelligence in the health field.
