The Syrian Army begins a sweeping operation in Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood in Aleppo from QSD

Khaberni - The Operations Authority in the Syrian Army announced the commencement of a sweeping operation in Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood in the city of Aleppo to clear it of the presence of the QSD organization, following the expiry of all the deadlines granted to the organization. The authority clarified that the neighborhood would be handed over to the security forces and state institutions immediately after the completion of the sweeping operations, to allow them to commence their work in the area.

The authority stated in a statement issued on Friday that the Syrian Army attempted to stop the QSD organization through a deal requiring their fighters to leave the city of Aleppo with their weapons. However, according to the statement, the organization targeted the buses transporting them three times, in addition to shelling army positions and targeting its soldiers, resulting in the death of three soldiers and injuries to more than a dozen others.

The Authority pointed out that the stalling policy followed by the QSD organization, accompanied by systematic shelling and targeting of civilian sites in Aleppo, diminishes the chances of continuing any new agreement with the organization. The authority also confirmed the discovery of a large number of PKK elements in Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood, who participated with the QSD organization in killing more than ten Kurdish youths who refused to fight alongside them, before burning their bodies to intimidate the civilians in the neighborhood.

The Syrian Army had previously declared Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood a closed military area, urging civilians to stay away from windows, descend to lower floors, and avoid approaching QSD organization sites. The army also opened humanitarian corridors and extended deadlines several times for civilians to exit through them, and published maps to ensure their safety, while the QSD and PKK organizations continued to target civilians in the city of Aleppo.
