Khaberni - The Ministry of Local Administration stated that the weather depression which affected the kingdom since Friday morning is characterized by the intensity of its activity over a short period, confirming that the integrated efforts contributed to dealing with 89 observations received by the emergency rooms in various municipalities, without recording any significant observations affecting public safety.
The ministry explained that the municipalities, with direct support from the joint services councils and the municipal affairs directorates, activated emergency and proactive response plans from the first moments of the weather condition, and were highly ready to handle any emergencies, despite the heavy rainfall in limited hours.
It confirmed that the joint coordination between the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Jordan Valley Authority, the administrative governors, and the Civil Defense Directorate contributed to the quick field response and addressing the observations as soon as they were reported.
The ministry indicated that the observations dealt with included rising water levels in some streets and low-lying areas, clogging of water drainage culverts, limited observations related to rainwater breaching some homes, and the falling of a number of trees due to wind speed, confirming that all were handled by the specialized field teams and addressed.
Regarding the areas most affected, the ministry indicated that the impact of the depression was concentrated in municipalities in the north and center of the kingdom, particularly the governorates of Irbid and Madaba, where Madaba recorded the highest rainfall amounting to (41) mm, which necessitated intensifying field efforts in dealing with opening roads, cleaning culverts, and water and valley channels.
Regarding the governorate of Karak, the ministry confirmed that the field teams continue to implement long-term solutions to address the affected sites in a number of municipalities, noting that no significant problems were recorded during the depression period, except for minor observations that were addressed immediately.
