Khaberni - The spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yinal Barmawi, stated that the adjustment of wheat prices is a routine procedural matter performed monthly according to a mathematical formula that has been used for many years to calculate bread production costs, which does not affect the production costs of bread that are fixed to maintain the prices of this basic commodity.
Barmawi added in a press clarification that wheat prices are adjusted by reducing them if fuel prices rise by a percentage that covers that increase to maintain the production costs of bread. Conversely, wheat prices are raised if fuel prices decrease, in a way that matches the change in fuel prices used by the bakeries, without having any impact on the fixed bread production costs. The government allocates the necessary financial provisions every year to maintain the bread prices.
