Khaberni - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Friday that a Russian drone caused damage to the building of the Qatari Embassy in the capital Kiev during attacks on Ukraine overnight.
Zelensky also said via the Telegram app that "Qatar is helping to mediate talks with Russia regarding the exchange of wartime prisoners."
As of 8:50 AM GMT, there has been no Russian or Qatari comment on the Ukrainian president's remarks.
Meanwhile, the Russian military announced on Friday that it had launched a hypersonic missile, the "Oryeshnik", at a target in Ukraine as part of what it described as a wide-ranging strike overnight targeting energy facilities and sites manufacturing drones.
The Ministry of Defense stated in an announcement that the strike was in response to Ukraine's attempt to attack a residence of President Vladimir Putin at the end of December.
Kyiv described the Russian claim that it had tried to attack a residence for Putin in Russia's Novgorod region as a "lie."
The strike came hours after Moscow confirmed that European forces intended to be deployed in Ukraine as part of any potential peace agreement would be considered "legitimate targets," following the detention by the United States of a Russian-flagged oil tanker on Wednesday.
