Khaberni - Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Al-Samman, inspected on Thursday the work progress in rehabilitating and maintaining Wadi Shuaib road, following the damages and collapses caused by recent weather conditions that affected the Kingdom.
The minister's field tour included an inspection of the damaged sites extending from Mahis Bridge area to Wadi Shuaib Dam in Al-Shuna Al-Janubiyya, directing the working staff to expedite the pace of work to ensure the road is reopened to traffic as promptly and safely as possible, and confirming that the ministry has developed a comprehensive plan to deal with all the technical observations reported by the expert committees.
The works on this road include the removal of high-risk side areas, and the construction of "Berms" with heights up to 5 meters to protect the road from rock falls, in addition to cleaning the main culverts and rehabilitating the "substrate layers" at sites that have experienced soil erosion.
The work focuses on the locations where rock falls prone to fall near Wadi Shuaib Dam occur, where efforts are currently underway to remove obstacles and reinforce eroded sites to ensure continued drainage efficiency and protect road users.
On the sidelines of the tour, Abu Al-Samman visited "Hadidon Road", where he reviewed the road condition and its maintenance needs.
The minister directed the relevant officials in the Balqa Directorate of Public Works to immediately start the necessary studies and carry out essential maintenance work on the road, to enhance road safety levels and facilitate the movement of citizens in the area.
It is noted that the Wadi Shuaib road had been closed by a decision from the Public Safety Committee in Balqa Governorate, in coordination with the Directorate of Public Security, as a precautionary measure following the last weather depression, to safeguard the lives of citizens due to the danger of mountain collapses in the area.
