Khaberni - The case of Dr. Khulood and her husband has undergone important legal developments, where their lawyer Ismail Dashti has disclosed the course of legal procedures, clarifying the correct legal framework regarding the news circulating about the case.
"The accused were detained for 21 days… and this does not mean they are convicted"
Dashti said: "The accused were detained for 21 days by the order of the prosecution, of course, this does not mean that they are convicted nor does it imply that they are involved in the charges presented against them", asserting that the current detention is a legal procedure within the investigation process, not a final verdict, according to ET in Arabic.
"Possible revision of the charges or exclusion of some"
Regarding the upcoming judicial path, Dashti added: "During our forthcoming sessions in the detention renewal, and thereafter sessions before the criminal court, we will present evidence that exonerates them from all charges”, indicating that “it's possible to amend the charges before the detention renewal judge, and even before the first-degree court, some charges may be excluded if there is a lack of evidence that supports this matter".
What are the charges?.. "Just an ongoing investigation currently"
He also clarified the nature of the charges saying: "The charges involve substance abuse, inaccuracies of the amounts, and money laundering", before emphasizing that "these are still charges that can’t be deemed final, nor are they 100% confirmed, just an ongoing investigation currently".
"We have evidence that proves their innocence"
Dashti also affirmed his confidence in the defense path, stating clearly: "Inshallah, we have evidence that proves their innocence from all charges", pointing to his legal expertise by saying: “I have multiple certifications in anti-money laundering, and I can assist you with them even visually".
A clear warning to everyone promoting inaccurate information
In concluding his message, Ismail Dashti issued a direct legal warning, saying: "Anyone who publishes false news exposes themselves to legal accountability".
