Khaberni - In a series of statements that sparked widespread controversy, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his authority as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is "bound only by his personal ethics," confirming in his talk to the "New York Times" that he does not need international law to make his decisions.
Trump clarified that he does not aim to harm anyone, but he sees the presidential office as a mandate that grants him the freedom to act to protect American interests away from international legislative restrictions.
On the topic of foreign policy, Trump emphasized that Russia "does not care" about any country in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) except for the United States.
He credited himself for Kyiv's perseverance, saying: "If it weren’t for my efforts, Russia would now control all of Ukraine."
Despite his emphasis on wanting to maintain good relations with Europe, he directed criticism at European performance, demanding that European countries improve their performance and take greater responsibilities.
In a message sent towards Beijing, Trump expressed his belief that the Chinese President might attack Taiwan if someone other than him took power in the White House.
Trump confidently affirmed: "I don’t believe he would do that while I am president," which indicates his reliance on "personal deterrence" policy and direct relations with international leaders to prevent major military conflicts in East Asia.
