Khaberni - Shehu Diko, the head of Nigeria's National Sports Committee, confirmed the settlement of the financial dues issue for the national team players participating in the current Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco before their quarterfinal match against Algeria on Sunday.
Nigerian players, who won their four matches in the tournament, threatened to boycott training before the Algeria match due to not receiving their financial dues, while Diko confirmed the resolution of the crisis.
This is not the first time the Nigerians have protested delayed dues. A similar situation occurred during the African qualifiers for the World Cup before the match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo when players and officials boycotted training because of this.
Nigeria qualified for the quarterfinals after beating Mozambique 4-0, while Algeria advanced past the Democratic Republic of the Congo with a 1-0 win.
