Khaberni - The Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Walid El-Masry, attended by the governor of Irbid Radwan Al-Atoum, met this Thursday evening in Irbid province with 19 heads of municipal committees, heads of joint service councils, and directors of municipal affairs, to evaluate the level of readiness to deal with the expected weather depression that will affect the kingdom tomorrow, Friday.
The minister emphasized during the meeting the necessity of intensifying field efforts during the coming hours, explaining that forecasts indicate that the kingdom will be affected by rainfalls that might reach a high level of danger, according to early warning maps issued by relevant entities.
He confirmed that the highest priority is to protect the lives and properties of citizens, through implementing intensive preventative field measures and prior preparation.
El-Masry directed to intensify inspection tours on watercourses, valleys, and culverts, and to confirm their cleanliness and safety, and remove any obstacles that may hinder the flow of water, thereby ensuring its smooth flow and mitigating risks.
He also directed that emergency rooms in all municipalities be open around the clock, and to enhance immediate coordination with all partner entities, including administrative rulers, Civil Defense, and the Ministry of Public Works, to ensure an integrated and swift response to any emergencies.
He instructed all heads of municipal committees, heads of joint services councils, and directors of municipal affairs to personally supervise field operations directly, emphasizing the principle of accountability in case of any shortcomings.
The minister urged citizens to take the utmost precautions, stay away from watercourses, flood areas, and water accumulation areas, and to follow the instructions and guidelines of official entities for their safety.
During the meeting, the minister listened to a briefing about the measures taken by municipalities and councils, and the challenges facing the workflow, emphasizing the importance of overcoming obstacles and enhancing field readiness to ensure efficient service delivery.
