Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Energy announced this evening the start of receiving natural gas for electricity generation in Syria, within the framework of a gas purchase agreement through the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with a quantity of 4 million cubic meters per day.
The Ministry confirmed that this step will contribute to a noticeable improvement in the electric supply reality, according to the approved operational plans for power stations.
The Ministry indicated that the agreement comes within a gas purchase contract costing about $800 million annually, as part of a governmental direction to secure stable and sustainable energy sources, and to improve services provided to citizens.
This measure is part of a comprehensive reform plan for the energy sector, aimed at enhancing production and achieving noticeable improvement in the electricity situation.
