Jordan Government to contractors Legal actions against negligent companies

Khaberni - The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Engineer Maher Abu Al-Samn, today in his office, received the head of the Contractors Syndicate, Engineer Fuad Al-Duwairi, and members of the syndicate council, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance field partnership and develop technical performance in the construction sector.

During the meeting, the minister expressed his appreciation for the syndicate's initiative to leverage contractors' capabilities and machinery to support government efforts, asserting that this cooperation was clearly manifested through coordination with the ministry’s operations room during the recent weather depression.

The meeting reviewed a set of regulatory and technical decisions, where the minister confirmed the ministry's direction to address the Prime Minister's Office regarding the establishment of a specialized department or unit for infrastructure that will systematically document all details related to this sector and address encroachments that occur on ministry roads.

Abu Al-Samn emphasized not accepting any construction project in the future unless the final execution documents (As Built) are provided, and directed concerned parties to immediately start preparing a comprehensive hydrological study for all ministry roads to ensure their structural safety.

The minister stressed the necessity of taking strict legal measures against any service company in the water, electricity, or telecommunications sectors that causes sudden obstacles during execution.

The meeting, which was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry for Technical Affairs, Dr. Jamal Qutaishat, covered the current field efforts, including road repairs in Wadi Shuaib, addressing landslides in the Aqaba area, and leasing 190 machines to enhance capabilities to deal with weather conditions and distributing "New Jersey" barriers at vital locations and needy municipalities.

Abu Al-Samn expressed his appreciation for the Contractors Syndicate Council for their national initiative to leverage all capabilities and machinery of contractors to support governmental efforts in dealing with the weather conditions experienced by the kingdom. The minister confirmed that this cooperation embodies the concept of true and permanent partnership between the ministry and the syndicate, noting that this solidarity is a "national effort" involving all parties to serve the citizens and ensure the continuity of services.

On his behalf, the head of the Contractors Syndicate and his deputy affirmed the private sector's full readiness to work at the disposal of the state and to provide the ministry with detailed lists of available contractors and machinery, agreeing to directly link emergency rooms to make quick decisions in emergency situations.

Al-Duwairi confirmed the sector's ongoing and permanent readiness to stand by the side of governmental field devices, emphasizing that the Jordanian contractor places his capabilities and expertise at the disposal of the state under all weather and emergency conditions, stemming from the national and community responsibility of the syndicate.
