Khaberni - Hali Rahbani, the youngest son of Mrs. Fairuz, passed away on Thursday after a long battle with illness, closing a touching human page that remained away from the limelight but was powerfully present in the life of one of the most important icons of Arab singing.
Hali Rahbani was born in 1958 and has suffered from mental and physical disabilities since childhood, at a time when medical expectations were not optimistic about his chances of survival.
However, those estimates did not take into account a decisive factor, represented in the motherhood of Fairuz, who dealt with her son's condition with rare silence and unconditional love, making his care her absolute priority throughout her life.
Fairuz chose to keep Hali away from the spotlight and surrounded him with a world of privacy and tranquility; he grew up away from the noise of fame, surrounded by the tenderness of a mother who did not treat him as a burden or a trial, but as an integral part of her life and humanitarian mission.
Earlier, director Rima Rahbani revealed a hidden side of her mother’s life when she spoke about having a brother with special needs, who was over sixty years old and had lived his whole life under his mother's care.
She pointed out the magnitude of challenges and tribulations that Fairuz faced over many years, starting from the loss of her husband, the great artist Assi Rahbani at a young age, to her ongoing responsibility towards her sick son.
