Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality confirmed that the planning and regulation system within the boundaries of the Greater Amman Municipality for the year 2025, which commenced from 1/1/2026, aims to create a comprehensive future vision for Amman, enhancing the planning and regulation operations and providing a supportive legislative environment based on modernity and sustainability, while streamlining procedures for citizens.
The Municipality explained that the system stipulates that there are powers for the competent authority represented by the Planning Directorate and the Building Licensing Directorate with their departments and sections, where they will have the authority to make decisions in some transactions related to the division of buildings and lands and building licenses in accordance with the system, in addition to certain facilitations aimed at streamlining the procedures and expediting the process of transactions.
Citizens will be able to complete their transactions if they comply with the provisions of the system, in addition to obtaining certain facilitations at set rates in the system, without the need to refer to committees.
The Municipality indicated that, through the system, it works on studying building license applications submitted in a planned manner within neighborhood and area plans according to the approved provisions, reaching the licensing stage, noting that any objections from neighbors regarding any submitted project will be taken into consideration by the Central Planning Committee to make the appropriate decision as it is the supreme authority in adopting and monitoring the plans.
The Municipality confirmed that under the system, official plans for the neighborhood, area, and city are prepared based on a strategy that takes into consideration the geographic, social, economic, and environmental specificity of each area.
The Municipality clarified that the system relies on community participation and consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders in preparing official plans and making decisions related to regulation, enhancing accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness in municipal work, in addition to responding to the needs of citizens in the planning and regulation process.
