Khaberni - Organized by the Dean of Student Affairs at Petra University, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law, and in the presence of a delegation from the Independent Election Commission, a student debate competition was held under the patronage of the University President Professor Dr. Rami Abdel Rahim, as part of promoting a culture of dialogue and political awareness among students.

The Deputy Head of the Independent Election Commission, Jihad Al-Momani, who attended on behalf of His Excellency the Head of the Commission Musa Al-Maaytah, during his participation in the event, emphasized that the guaranteeing legislations form the real foundation for the political participation of youth, pointing out that the political modernization course witnessed in Jordan, under the care and guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, established a legal system that protects party work and ensures the right to participate without discrimination or accountability.

He pointed to the importance of partnerships with universities in building a generation aware of its national issues, appreciating the role of Petra University as an effective model in supporting political awareness programs, through dialogues, workshops, and student competitions that contribute to honing the skills of dialogue and debate among youth.

For his part, the Dean of Student Affairs at Petra University, Professor Dr. Iyad Al-Mallah, reaffirmed the university's commitment to its national role in supporting the political modernization path, noting that the university was among the first to establish an office for the Independent Election Commission inside the campus, as well as founding the "Empowering Promising Leaders" office within the Dean of Student Affairs, and implemented many awareness programs and courses for students in cooperation with the commission.

The student debate competition was supervised by a faculty member of the Faculty of Law, Professor Dr. Omar Omar, where the event contributed to developing the debate and dialogue skills of students.

The event concluded with an emphasis on the importance of the student debate competition in instilling a culture of dialogue and enhancing informed and responsible participation of youth in political life.
