Khaberni - The President of Amman Al-Ahliyya University, Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, honored the students and faculty members who participated in the Global English Language Olympiad, which was held under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, attended by a group of officials, academics, and representatives of the participating educational institutions, during a ceremony held at the university’s presidency building.
This honor comes after Amman Al-Ahliyya University achieved three prestigious awards in the Olympiad, namely the second place in the English Language Exam category, along with the Most Impactful Community Service Award, and the Theatrical Performance Award, reflecting the excellence of the students and the academic staff and their active participation in international forums.
The Department of English at this global event was directed by the university president, Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, under the direct supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Professor Dr. Linda Al-Khawaja, and the head of the English Department, Dr. Ahmed Shelbaya.
The department's participation involved two student teams, supervised in their training by Dr. Khaled Al-Anbar and Dr. Mohammad Al-Qatawneh, while Dr. Saleh Hammad from the Faculty of Educational Sciences supervised the teams involved in preparing their research projects.
The first team included students Ibrahim Basem Al-Husseini, Joud Jihad Kadoumi, Sabreen Malek Al-Qaisi, Ali Ahmad Ghazi, and Mona Mahmoud Al-Awamleh, while the second team was composed of students Layan Waheed Shahin, Lin Moeen Akroush, Zeina Ahmad Al-Jaran, Mohammad Abdullah Al-Issa, and Maryam Fadi Abu Al-Nadi.
The ceremony also honored student Lydia Afishat for winning first place in the electronic sports championship for university women, in addition to honoring student Gaith Asad in recognition of his participation in this championship, reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting extracurricular activities and enhancing the excellence of its students in various academic, cultural, and sports fields.
