Nursing College at AlZaytoonah University Implements Two Health Activities for Children with Disabilities and Their Families

Khaberni  - The Nursing College at Al-Zaytoonah University in Jordan organized two health activities at the Community Rehabilitation Center for Disabilities – Al-Wihdat branch, targeting children with disabilities and their families, aiming to raise health and educational awareness and enhance the parents' ability to deal correctly and effectively with their children.

The activities included providing health education sessions and awareness for the parents covering a range of important topics, among them techniques for dealing with children with various disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, in addition to raising awareness about the issue of bullying and its psychological and behavioral effects on the children and ways to reduce it. The parents were also provided with basic information on first aid in case of accidents or home hazards to ensure children's safety.

The activities also included implementing interactive activities aimed at children, aiming to develop their motor and social skills, and encouraging them to interact and participate within a safe and supportive environment, contributing to enhancing their self-confidence and improving their communication skills with others.

During the activities, parents had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the challenges they face in caring for their children, where practical guidance and appropriate tips were offered, focusing on psychological, educational, and health aspects.

These events contributed to enhancing communication between students, parents, and the educational team, raising awareness among parents about the needs of their children with disabilities, and empowering them to implement healthy and educational practices at home.
