Khaberni - The UAE’s Medicines Establishment and Nestle announced a voluntary and precautionary recall of a limited number of infant milk products, Nan Comfort 1, Nan Optipro 1, and Nan Supreme Pro 1,2,3, as well as 26 Ultima 1,2,3 and Alfamino, due to one of the production inputs containing traces of Bacillus cereus bacteria which can produce cereulide substance, with consumer health and safety as a priority.
The Emirates Medicines Establishment clarified that to date, no cases have been registered or confirmed related to the affected batches and that all other Nestle products are safe for consumption. It added that the safety and quality of products in the country and children's health are our utmost priority.
The Emirates Medicines Establishment confirmed that in coordination with the company, batches concerned were secured in their warehouses and those of distributors, while continuing the process of withdrawing the remaining quantities in accordance with approved regulatory procedures.
The establishment mentioned that the measures taken were for the protection of individual and community health, and the withdrawal operations are coordinated with the relevant regulatory authorities in the country to ensure the affected batches are removed from all outlets including online stores.

It is noted that these measures are part of the Emirates Medicines Establishment's strategy aimed at enhancing the pharmaceutical security system in the country and ensuring the sustained availability of medical products with the highest standards of quality and safety, where the establishment relies on an integrated regulatory system that is based on proactive risk analysis and monitoring of pharmaceutical supply chains locally and globally, thereby enhancing the country’s ability for rapid response to any emergency that may affect the availability or safety of medical products.
