After threatening military action Trump welcomes Colombian President to the White House

Khaberni -  US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he is arranging a meeting with his Colombian counterpart Gustavo Petro "in the near future," days after threatening military action against the South American nation.

Trump stated on his platform "Truth Social" that he spoke with Petro by phone and discussed their recent disagreements, including the issue of drug trafficking.

He added, "I expressed my appreciation for his call and the tone of his speech, and I look forward to meeting him in the near future" at the White House.

Trump had made his first phone call with his Colombian counterpart on Wednesday, as announced by the Bogota government.

The Colombian Foreign Ministry reported the call but did not mention what was discussed, after Trump warned Petro to "be careful" following the US forces' ousting of President Nicolas Maduro in neighboring Venezuela.
