Israeli Knesset member Ayman Odeh calls for civil disobedience

Khaberni - Israeli Knesset member Ayman Odeh called for comprehensive civil disobedience in the Arab community in Israel, due to escalating violence and crime in the Arab community, in an interview with channel "Kan 11" this Wednesday evening.

Odeh, leader of the Joint List (Hadash-Ta'al) stated: "My trust in the police is non-existent, and the question is, what shall we do? There's only one thing: to rely on ourselves in facing institutions, and we must reach a state of genuine civil disobedience. If our children's lives aren't normal, then the life of the entire state shouldn't be normal either."

Odeh added: "I call for disrupting the work of the Arab community, more than just one day, including Arab doctors and all workers in various sectors. I invite unions, local authorities, and every individual as a human being to join us."

The Knesset member affirmed: "We want to live in a community without weapons, because a weapon is evil whether it's directed against an Arab or a Jew. Is this an exaggerated request or a fair opinion?"

In his attack on the Israeli government, Odeh criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir: "I don’t think there is any hope from these people. Netanyahu has been in power since 2008 and has done nothing about crime in the Arab community. Who would believe him now? He's a liar."

Odeh pointed out that the state is responsible for dealing with illegal weapons and organized crime, saying: "Unless we believe we should ourselves enter homes to seize the weapons."

He also criticized the police action during the Tarabin incident, questioning: "Did they really collect weapons or did they kill someone? What did they do? What is this blatant lie?" And added: "They used to shoot and cry, now they shoot and smile."

It is worth noting that only one week into the year 2026, there have already been 11 fatalities in the Arab community so far.
