Khaberni - Member of the Knesset Ayman Odeh called for comprehensive civil disobedience in the Arab community in Israel, against the backdrop of escalating violence and crime in the Arab community, in an interview with "Kan 11" channel, this Wednesday evening.
Odeh, head of the Joint List (Hadash-Ta'al), said: "My trust in the police is non-existent, and the question is what shall we do? There is only one thing: to rely on ourselves in facing the institutions, and we must reach a state of true civil disobedience. If our children's lives cannot be normal, then the life of the entire state should not be normal either."
Odeh added: "I call for disrupting the work of the Arab community, for more than one day, including Arab doctors and all workers in various sectors. I call on unions, local authorities, and every individual as a human being to join us."
The Member of the Knesset emphasized: "We want to live in a society without weapons, because a weapon is evil whether it is directed against an Arab or a Jew. Is this an exaggerated request or a fair opinion?"
In his attack on the Israeli government, Odeh criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir: "I don't think there is any hope from these people. Netanyahu has been in power since 2008 and has done nothing about the crime in the Arab community. Who would believe him now? He is a liar."
Odeh mentioned that the state is responsible for addressing illegal weapons and organized crime, saying: "Unless we believe that we should enter homes ourselves to take the weapons."
He also criticized the police work during the Tarabin incident, questioning: "Did they really collect weapons or did they kill someone? What did they do? What is this blatant lie?". He added: "They used to shoot and cry, now they shoot and smile."
It is worth noting that just one week into 2026, the number of deaths in the Arab community has already reached 11 people so far.
