Including Nan and 26 Gold Saudi Arabia withdraws Nestle baby milk products

Khaberni - The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has warned against the consumption of Nestle's baby milk products for brands Nan "NAN", Alfamino "ALFAMINO", S-26 Gold "S-26 GOLD", S-26 Ultima "S-26 ULTIMA", based on a voluntary notification from the company that it is recalling a number of its products due to the potential contamination with "Cereulide" toxin (Cereulide), secreted by "Bacillus cereus" bacteria, which may pose a risk to infants’ health.

The authority explained that this action is part of a precautionary voluntary recall announced by the manufacturer, and after assessing the potential risks, exposure to these toxins may lead to health symptoms including nausea, repeated vomiting, and abdominal pain, confirming that to date, no cases related to these products have been recorded.

The "Food and Drug" authority advised consumers not to consume the recalled products and to dispose of them immediately, noting that it has taken necessary measures in coordination with the company to withdraw the products from the markets and is monitoring the implementation directly.

In Egypt, the National Food Safety Authority confirmed that the baby milk product Nestle announced it was recalling limited quantities of in several European countries due to potential contamination with a toxic substance, is not registered with the authority and is not available in the Egyptian market.

The authority clarified that the product referred to is not listed with the Special Food Administration of the National Food Safety Authority and has not obtained any licenses for import or circulation inside Egypt, emphasizing that it is not available in the local market.

The authority emphasized that all baby milk products available in the Egyptian market undergo strict registration, inspection, and control procedures, according to the latest scientific standards and approved health requirements, ensuring the safety and quality of food products, especially those intended for children, who are the most sensitive and affected group.

Nestle, which produces products ranging from "Kit Kat" to "Nescafe", said late Monday that there had been no confirmed cases of illness associated with the products that were recalled.

A company spokesperson added that after identifying a quality issue related to one of the main supplied ingredients, Nestle conducted "tests on all arachidonic acid oils and corresponding oil blends used in the production of infant nutrition products that may be affected."

With the completion of the tests, Nestle recalled the affected products and began activating alternative suppliers for arachidonic acid oil, increasing production at several of its factories, and accelerating the rollout of unaffected products from distribution centers to maintain supply continuity.
