Khaberni - Arab Potash Company and the Vocational Training Corporation signed today, Wednesday, a cooperation agreement to establish a specialized vocational training academy in the Zohm area in Karak Governorate, with a financial contribution of 450,000 Jordanian Dinars, aimed at training and qualifying Jordanian youth, especially in the southern governorates, and enhancing their readiness to enter the labor market within the kingdom or in regional and international markets.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Labor and Chairman of the Board of the Vocational Training Corporation, Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar, and the Chairman of the Board of Arab Potash Company, engineer Shehadeh Abu Hadeeb.
This agreement, which is in line with the targets of the economic modernization vision, is a continuation of Arab Potash Company's approach to supporting the local communities within which it operates, and enhancing sustainable development in the southern governorates through investing in human capital and providing vocational training and rehabilitation programs that contribute to enhancing the readiness of youth for the Jordanian labor market, and enabling them to join work opportunities inside the kingdom or in regional and international markets.
Arab Potash Company will contribute a total amount of 450,000 Jordanian Dinars, to be disbursed in three phases extending from the year 2025 to 2027, to exclusively finance the establishment and operation of the academy as stipulated by the agreement.

In his comments on the agreement, Minister of Labor and Chairman of the Board of the Vocational Training Corporation, Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar, said the agreement between Arab Potash Company and the Vocational Training Corporation is in line with the targets of the economic modernization vision for enabling, training, and employing Jordanian youth across various sectors.
He explained that the agreement provides training and empowerment for youth to work at Arab Potash and other companies operating in the mining sector, in addition to qualifying and training them to unlock the doors to regional and global labor markets for obtaining job opportunities in the mining sector.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Arab Potash Company, engineer Shehadeh Abu Hadeeb, said this agreement comes within the context of the company's community role commitment towards the southern governorates and the areas it operates in, maintaining that Arab Potash views local development as a long-term partnership, not just temporary initiatives.
Engineer Abu Hadeeb clarified that Arab Potash, its subsidiaries, and allied companies are facing major expansions in their operations in the coming years, in addition to the growth in industrial activity in the southern governorates, which necessitates the need for young, qualified, trained, and capable staff to meet the requirements of the coming phase.
He added that investing in training and qualifying youth is a fundamental pillar for ensuring the sustainability of the industrial sector and enhancing its competitiveness, noting that the academy will contribute to preparing youth capable of working in industrial sectors inside Jordan or in foreign markets, which opens up broader employment prospects for them, supports the national economy, and enhances the stability of local communities, confirming that Arab Potash Company will continue to implement quality developmental initiatives that contribute to the development of the south, enhance employment opportunities, and build a qualified human base to support the comprehensive development journey.
The Vocational Training Corporation, by virtue of the agreement, will manage and operate the academy, set up and implement the necessary training and rehabilitation programs, provide the specialized technical staff, and issue the accredited training certificates, in line with the current and future labor market needs.
