Khaberni - The Faculty of Science and Information Technology at Al-Zaytoonah University in Jordan has concluded the events of the TechTalk competition for technical communication in English, organized by the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, with broad participation from the faculty's students, as part of a series of activities aimed at developing the students' language and specialized technical skills.
The competition aimed to enhance the students' ability to communicate scientific and technical content in English, and to enable them to present technical presentations in a systematic and clear manner, in addition to developing academic communication skills and engaging with contemporary technical issues, in line with the university study requirements in information technology specialties.
It should be noted that the specialized English language course in information science and technology was included in the curriculum plans of all the college's programs a year ago, aiming to develop specialized technical communication skills among the students. This competition was one of the practical activities connected to activating the course outcomes and measuring the achievement of its educational objectives.
The competition witnessed participation from student teams across various specialties of the faculty, where the students presented technical presentations covering multiple topics in the information technology fields. Two specialized judging panels from the faculty members evaluated the presentations based on criteria focusing on language proficiency, expressive ability, clarity of ideas, organization of the presentation, and the level of interaction.
At the end of the event, the dean of the faculty reviewed a summary of the results and recommendations of the judging committees and listened to the opinions of the participating students before honoring the winning teams and participants, praising the exceptional level of the technical presentations, and the efforts of the students and organizers in making the competition a success.
The organization of this competition is part of the institutional approach followed by Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan to enhance English language communication skills, develop the educational process, and activate learning outcomes, contributing to the preparation of students equipped with the language and technical skills required for the job market, and improving the quality of university education outputs.
