Khaberni - A Saudi tourist was killed while his companion sustained serious injuries following the overturning of a jet ski in one of Indonesia's tourist beaches, after it collided with violent waves, according to the local Indonesian authorities.
The incident took place at Bobalo Beach in the city of Pelabuhanratu, part of the Sukabumi Regency in West Java province, where the Saudi tourist was riding a jet ski with another passenger heading towards open waters, before the jet ski flipped during their attempt to return to the shore amidst rough sea conditions and high waves.
The Saudi Embassy is following up on the incident
His Excellency Faisal Al-Amoudi, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Indonesia, told "Al Arabiya.net" that the body of the Saudi citizen was transferred to Saudi Arabia, and that the Saudi embassy followed the incident from its occurrence, coordinating with the relevant authorities to complete the legal procedures as per the regulations in force in the two countries.
The ambassador clarified that the embassy is keen on providing necessary support to the citizens and their families in such circumstances, noting that the diplomatic team works around the clock to ensure quick handling of emergency situations.
Call for adherence to safety instructions
Ambassador Al-Amoudi urged Saudi citizens to be cautious and vigilant when engaging in maritime activities and risky sports, to comply with safety guidelines and local instructions, emphasizing the importance of communicating with the embassy in emergency situations, and that the safety of citizens is a priority for Saudi diplomatic missions abroad.

According to Indonesian authorities, as reported by local media, the jet ski was directly hit by a large wave, which led to its violent overturning, resulting in the death of the Saudi citizen and the critical injury of the other passenger.
An eyewitness stated that the impact was severe, noting that the victim's head hit the body of the jet ski before being thrown into the water, mentioning that both riders were wearing life jackets, but were later seen floating motionlessly on the water surface, amidst a lack of immediate rescue response in the first minutes following the accident.
Transfer to the hospital and investigations
The police reported that rescue teams transported the injured to the regional general hospital in Pelabuhanratu for urgent medical attention, but the Saudi citizen was declared dead upon arrival, while the other injured passenger continues to receive treatment in the intensive care unit, described in critical condition.
The security authorities identified the deceased as Hassan Radi Al-Muhanna, a Saudi citizen, while the injured passenger was identified as Siti Mariam (41 years), an Indonesian citizen from Bogor Regency, confirming that the incident is still under investigation by the Sukabumi police water and air unit to determine its circumstances and causes.
