Khaberni - The Jordan Meteorological Department stated that the weather will remain relatively cold in most regions of the kingdom during Wednesday and Thursday, with a slight increase in temperatures and some high clouds appearing, while the weather will be warmer in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba areas, and the winds will be light southeast.
The meteorology department added that, God willing, the kingdom will gradually be affected by a cold and moist air mass accompanying a depression centered north of Cyprus on Friday, leading to a sharp and noticeable drop in temperatures, and cold and cloudy weather with rainfall starting from the north of the kingdom and later extending to most regions.
It explained that the cold front will cross during the afternoon hours, leading to sometimes heavy rainfall in the north and central parts of the kingdom and the southwestern parts, as well as the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea areas, and the rain may be accompanied by thunder and hail, increasing the risk of floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas.
The Meteorological Department warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to fog and low clouds and heavy rainfall, urging citizens not to risk crossing flood channels and rainwater gathering areas.
It clarified that the night of Friday and dawn of Saturday might witness light and intermittent showers of snow mixed with rain over the high peaks of the Shara mountains for a short period.
As for Saturday, the forecasts indicate that the weather will remain cold and partly cloudy with a chance of scattered rain showers in some western regions, while the precipitation will weaken in the evening, whereas very cold weather prevails at night with fog forming in the mountainous heights and plains, and the possibility of frost formation in the late night and early morning hours.
The Meteorological Department emphasized the need to adhere to general safety instructions, wear warm clothing, use heating safely, pay attention to the elderly and children, and be careful of slipping on the roads.
