Khaberni - A burglary attempt in the city of Kota in Rajasthan, India ended with an unexpected scene that nobody anticipated, when the homeowner found a thief completely stuck in the kitchen's ventilation shaft upon his return.
The incident occurred at the home of citizen Subash Kumar Rawat who was visiting the Khatu Shyam temple in Sikar district on January 3rd.
Rawat and his wife returned home at 1 AM, and as they opened the main gate, the light from a motorcycle left outside sneaked in to reveal an unbelievable scene: a man jammed in the exhaust fan vent, his upper half hanging inside the kitchen and the lower half dangling outside the wall, unable to move in any direction.
Instantly, the initial shock turned into screams of help that pierced the quiet neighborhood, prompting neighbors to rush out of their houses to behold what seemed like a scene from a dark comedy movie.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the thief had not been working alone; his accomplice managed to escape upon hearing the screams, leaving his partner in a hopeless situation. Meanwhile, the stuck thief attempted to intimidate the homeowners by hinting at the presence of others nearby, but his efforts were futile in the face of his embarrassing plight.
The police arrived from the Burkheda station within minutes of the report, to find a crowd of residents surrounding the house.
The police officer confirmed that the suspect entered with the intention to steal through a narrow opening he presumed easy, but it turned into a trap that securely caught him.
The process to free the thief took about 60 minutes of continuous effort, with police officers working cautiously to extract him uninjured despite his status as a suspect.
The operation ended with him being led to detention and beginning investigations into the details of the failed attempt and the identity of his escaped accomplice.
In a related context, Indian authorities seized a car used by the suspect bearing a "Police" sticker, which suggests it was used as a cover to facilitate his suspicious movements without attracting attention.
A video documenting the initial moments of discovery spread rapidly on social media platforms, with thousands of users commenting in astonishment and mockery.
Some also noted the irony in the suspect's name, "Pawan," which means air in Hindi, in relation to the incident involving an air vent, while others considered it swift justice for one who tried to violate the sanctity of a secure home.
