Why does Trump want to arrest Maduros son

Khaberni - The British newspaper "Telegraph" reported that Nicolas Maduro Guerra, son of the Venezuelan president from his first marriage, appeared defiant in parliament two days after his father's arrest by the United States in a raid on Caracas.

Maduro Guerra said, "My father, the president, and my second mother, Cilia Flores de Maduro, have been kidnapped," he added, speaking to Delcy Rodriguez, who has been appointed interim president of the country, "rely on me and my family to take the right steps."

The "Telegraph" noted that these statements are unlikely to be well-received by the Americans, nor the new regime that promised to cooperate with the American president Donald Trump.

The newspaper mentioned that Nicolas Maduro Guerra has long been a target for Washington, as the American criminal indictment announced on Sunday, accused him of participating in drug trafficking networks, alongside his father and his wife.

The prosecution also pointed out that he helped manage airline routes and aircraft belonging to the state oil company used in smuggling operations.

The newspaper also stated that Nicolas Maduro Guerra, known as "Nicolasito" in Venezuela, openly engages in politics, currently holding a seat in the National Assembly, and had previously worked in the government-backed Constituent Assembly.

Maduro Guerra showed full support for Delcy Rodriguez, indicating that he will remain loyal to the regime, while political observers consider whether he might be a symbolic continuation of the Maduro family within the state.

The newspaper also said that Maduro Guerra has a personable nature interested in the arts, had served as the director of "El Sistema", the national network of youth orchestras, plays the flute, and is sometimes seen interacting enthusiastically with residents of Venezuelan neighborhoods through social media.
