Iran We Will Not Wait to be Struck to Respond

Khaberni - The Iranian Defense Council warned today (Tuesday), that the continuation of hostile behavior against the country would face «a firm, proportionate, and decisive response»

It emphasized that Iran’s security, independence, and territorial unity are «red lines that cannot be crossed», considering this a direct response to the escalation of threats from the United States and Israel.

The General Secretariat of the Defense Council condemned the escalation in the tone of threats and interventionist statements against the country, pointing out that «the historical enemies of this land, who have repeatedly admitted their responsibility in killing Iranian women and children, are aiming through the repetition and intensification of threatening and interventionist rhetoric, in clear contradiction with accepted principles of international law, towards a calculated path aimed at dismantling Iran and damaging its fundamental foundations; a path that is not merely an expression of political positions, but part of a pattern of pressure and intimidation, and cannot be considered free of cost or outside the current equations».

The statement confirmed that within its right to legitimate defense, «Iran does not limit itself to responding only after an act occurs, but considers tangible indicators of a threat as part of the security equation», indicating the possibility of taking preemptive actions if concrete threats are detected.

The statement added that «based on national cohesion, comprehensive deterrent capability, and full defense readiness, the Islamic Republic of Iran once again affirms that the security, independence, and territorial unity of the country is a red line that cannot be crossed».

This statement comes one day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened that Israel «will not allow Iran to rebuild its ballistic program», following similar threats issued by U.S. President Donald Trump days earlier, calling for «a regime change» in Iran and vowing to support internal protests, warning that the United States «will strike Iran hard» if it continues to suppress protesters.

The Iranian statement sparked fears of a potential military escalation in the region, especially with reports of missile and air defense exercises conducted by the Revolutionary Guard forces in cities like Tehran and Shiraz on January 4th, reflecting Tehran's concerns about the renewal of conflict with Israel after Netanyahu's visit to Washington.

Iranian sources reported that the American threats have reduced the regime’s capacity to handle internal protests, which erupted due to economic crises, and electricity and water outages.

This escalation occurs amidst increasing tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, which have significantly escalated since the Iranian-Israeli war in June 2025, which lasted for 12 days and saw Israeli strikes on Iranian military and economic facilities, followed by American strikes on nuclear sites in Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz.
