Khaberni - A scientific study has found that the type of food an individual consumes affects the likelihood of developing tinnitus, according to the study published in a scientific journal specializing in epidemiology. A research team studied the health condition of more than 113,000 women and monitored the nature of the diets consumed by participants in the study over four years.
During the study period, it was found that around 23,000 of the participants suffered from chronic tinnitus. The researchers found that adhering to specific dietary patterns does not necessarily help in treating tinnitus, but certain foods can aid in treating this condition.
The researchers concluded that increasing fruit intake reduces the likelihood of tinnitus by 19%, while increasing intake of whole grains and sugary drinks is associated with an increased likelihood of this problem by between 12% to 26%.
The researchers, in statements to the website "Health Day" specializing in medical research, confirmed that these results could help provide scientific information to develop preventive strategies to reduce the likelihood of developing tinnitus.
It is worth mentioning that approximately 50 million adults in the United States alone suffer from tinnitus, a health issue that is difficult to treat and can affect the hearing efficiency of those afflicted.
