Khaberni - An unusual incident occurred in Morristown, Tennessee, where a loose monkey caused widespread chaos inside a musical instrument store, resulting in damage to dozens of guitars, before authorities successfully apprehended it after a pursuit that lasted for hours.
The police mentioned that the monkey, belonging to the intelligent and active Capuchin species, entered the store in the early morning hours and began roaming among the musical instruments, causing significant damage, as recorded by surveillance footage that documented the incident.
The store owners reported contacting the police around 8 AM, after discovering the extent of the losses. The footage showed the monkey climbing guitar stands and examining glass cases containing equipment and musical effects, amid instruments from well-known brands.
The police launched a search operation in the vicinity of the store and the adjacent residential areas, urging residents to report any information that could help track it down, until it was captured later that evening, according to local media reports.
The details on how the monkey was finally captured remain unclear, although the police later broadcasted images showing the transfer of an animal cage from one of the residential areas, indicating the end of the pursuit.
According to preliminary investigations, it is believed that the monkey was previously stolen from a farm in Alabama and was later sold in Tennessee, while the circumstances of its escape have not yet been disclosed.
The US Department of Agriculture confirmed notifying the original owner about finding the monkey and the damages resulting from the incident.
