Khaberni - A state of panic prevailed in the Indian city of Rishikesh after a wild bear chased two local residents while they were wandering at night, while several cows appeared at the scene of the incident.
Security cameras documented the incident in a video that was widely circulated on social media, achieving millions of views and thousands of shares and comments within a few days.
The video showed the two men walking on a street at night, with cows quietly strolling behind them. Suddenly, a bear appeared in front of them, prompting them to run away quickly, while the frightened cows scattered.
The video also showed the bear chasing them, which increased the state of panic among the residents.
Meanwhile, the forest department announced that they have not yet been able to track the movement of the bear or determine the route it used to reach the residential area, but they have intensified their patrols and advised residents to follow safety procedures when encountering bears.
The instructions include: keeping calm, moving slowly backward while watching the bear, making your body appear larger, protecting your head and abdomen in case of an attack, and calling emergency services or local wildlife management.
It is noted that the mountainous areas in Rishikesh are known for their natural beauty, but they also constantly face risks from wild animals, making such incidents likely at many times for both residents and visitors alike.
