Khaberni - The fugitive father, Khalid Al-Najjar (53 years), was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of killing his daughter Ryan (18 years) in an honor killing that shook the Netherlands.
His sons, Mohammed (23 years) and Mohannad (25 years), were each sentenced to 20 years in prison after it was proven they took their sister from Rotterdam to the crime scene knowing what awaited her. Only Mohannad attended the sentencing, stating he would appeal the decision.
According to the court, the crime was committed against the backdrop of the family’s view that Ryan had violated their strict values by adopting a Western lifestyle, refusing to wear the hijab, and using social media, with a live broadcast on "TikTok" believed to have been the last straw.
Ryan disappeared on May 22, 2024, and her body was found six days later near the city of Lelystad, where her father restrained, strangled, and then drowned her in a swamp within a secluded nature reserve before fleeing to Syria.
The investigation revealed his DNA under her nails, indicating her resistance before she was killed.
