Khaberni - Syrian media reported that the Syrian Arab Army began targeting drone launch sites belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces in the vicinity of Deir Hafer, east of Aleppo, after pinpointing the drone launch site.
The Syrian "al-Ikhbariya" channel quoted a Syrian military source saying, "The Syrian Arab Army began targeting drone launch sites belonging to the SDF in the vicinity of Deir Hafer, east of Aleppo, after pinpointing the drone launch site."
The source explained that "SDF drone attacks caused more than 6 injuries among civilians and the military police," stressing that "the army's response will be limited."
Earlier today, Monday, the Media and Communications Department at the Syrian Ministry of Defense stated in a release that three soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army were injured when "the SDF targeted a military police checkpoint in the vicinity of the town of Deir Hafer in eastern Aleppo countryside with drones, resulting in injuries to 3 soldiers and damage to two vehicles."
The Media and Communications Department confirmed that "the Syrian Arab Army will respond to this aggression appropriately."
On the other hand, the Syrian Democratic Forces denied in a statement "the allegations made in the statement by the Media and Communications Department at the Ministry of Defense regarding targeting a military police checkpoint near the town of Deir Hafer east of Aleppo," affirming "there were absolutely no actions, movements, or military operations by its forces in that area today," considering them "entirely fabricated and suspicious claims aimed at creating pretexts and justifying an undue escalation," and held "the issuing entity of the statement fully responsible for its repercussions."
In a subsequent statement, the "SDF" said that the incident which the Syrian Ministry of Defense relied upon to make the accusations "had no relation to any military action," explaining that it was "a traffic accident between a civilian vehicle and a vehicle belonging to the military police factions of Damascus, which was exaggerated and misleadingly described in an obvious attempt to fabricate a security narrative with no basis." The SDF affirmed "its commitment to restraint and to the existing pathways and its keenness on not being drawn into provoked escalations."
In a third statement, the "SDF" emphasized "its complete and legitimate right to defend its fighters and its people," amid what it described as "continuous random bombardment on the city of Deir Hafer by the factions of the Amshat and Hamzat loyal to the government of Damascus and listed on international sanctions lists," pointing out that the bombardment "directly targets the homes of civilians and poses a serious risk to the lives of the residents."
The SDF affirmed that this bombardment "did not result in any material or human damage in its ranks," holding "the attacking parties fully responsible" for what it described as "crimes, violations, and their consequences."
This comes one day after a meeting held, yesterday Sunday, between a delegation from the "SDF," headed by Mazloum Abdi, and government officials in Damascus, as part of negotiations concerning the military integration process under the agreement of March 10, 2025.
However, the meeting "did not lead to tangible results on the ground," according to what was reported by the Syrian al-Ikhbariya channel quoting a government source.
The source explained that the two parties agreed to hold further meetings without specifying a timeline for them.
