Erdoğan to Trump Venezuela must not slide into chaos or instability

Khaberni - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, close to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, warned his American counterpart, Donald Trump, on Monday, about Venezuela sliding "into chaos or instability".

Erdoğan said in a phone call with Trump: "Any violation of the sovereignty of the people and any breach of international law will lead to serious complications in the international order," confirming that "Venezuela must not slide into chaos or instability".

The Turkish President assured journalists after a government meeting that "Turkey does not desire chaos, confusion, or tensions in its region or anywhere else. Thus, maintaining an international order based on rules is essential".

He pointed out that "when power overcomes the law, a state of instability, crises, and conflicts arises", confirming his friendship with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro who was arrested by American forces and transferred to New York.

He added, "We strive hard to work in the interests of Turkey and the friendly Venezuelan people. Maduro and the Venezuelan people have repeatedly shown their friendship towards our country... We have always attached the utmost importance to mutual solidarity in difficult times and valued it. Today we act in the same spirit."

The ousted Venezuelan President pleaded innocent on Monday before a court in New York where he is being tried on charges related to drug trafficking.
