Referring 243 people working in Cooperatives to the Public Prosecution in Kuwait

Khaberni - The Minister of Social Affairs in Kuwait, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila, referred 243 individuals working in cooperative societies to the public prosecution between the years 2024 and 2025, due to financial and administrative violations. According to a press statement attributed to the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Qabas", the number of Kuwaitis referred was 114, while the number of non-Kuwaitis was 129.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila, confirmed that the ministry continues to perform its supervisory and reformative duties within the cooperative societies and all sectors under its jurisdiction.

She added: "We will not stop taking regulatory actions or forming work teams and specialized committees." She affirmed that the actions of the ministry represent a legal commitment and a national trust before the political leadership and the people of Kuwait, explaining that "protecting public money and establishing the principles of governance and integrity are not options, but a steadfast approach and a national commitment that cannot be compromised."

The minister pointed to "Al-Qabas" that the doors of the ministry are open to anyone who has documented information or reports related to any malfunctions or infringements in cooperative work or in any sector under the ministry or related entities. She noted the existence of a specialized committee concerned with fighting corruption and receiving complaints, and studying them according to the approved legal frameworks.
