Khaberni - The director of the government app "Sanad", Mohammed Al Batayekhi, said on Monday that the service for activating the digital identity "self-service" through the app "Sanad" has seen significant demand from both within Jordan and abroad.
The Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Samirat, announced on Sunday during a press conference the details of the updates made to the "Sanad" app.
Al Batayekhi added that after the launch of the new version of the app, there have been 4,000 successful activations of digital identities through the app without the need to visit Sanad stations.
He noted that the number of government services available through the app exceeds 260 services.
"We accomplished 4 new things in the new version, the first being the self-activation of the digital identity, improving the app speed, enhancing the user experience and finally, the electronic payment operations through Sanad by going to payment processes," according to Al Batayekhi.
When asked if we are an electronic or digital government, he said that the design of services differs between an electronic and digital government in terms of process implementation, as digitalization shortens stages for citizens from data availability, service aggregation, and more.
"We listen to users' needs and work to meet them," according to Al Batayekhi, who said that there was recently a new launch for Sanad.
Regarding the availability of services for residents, Al Batayekhi said that Sanad provides services exclusively to Jordanians but can be used by non-Jordanians.
When asked about the campaign for temporary travel documents and residents of the Gaza Strip: "They can set up an account on Sanad, while the services will be added soon (...) they can view documents through Sanad"
The specialist in governance of digital transformation, Hamza Al Akalik, confirmed that the highest standards of cyber security are applied in Jordan.
He emphasized the importance of procedural services, not just informational ones, like viewing official documents, clarifying that what’s required today is not just automating services but a comprehensive digital transformation journey that makes receiving services easier.
By the end of the year 2025, the ministry announced the digitalization of 80% of government services, which is equivalent to 1920 services, while nearly two million digital identities have been activated through the Sanad government app.
The government launched the "Sanad" app in February 2020 as part of the fifth executive package of the government economic program to support "electronic services and improving the business environment", and subsequently, several updates were made to the app to overcome issues faced at the beginning of its operation.
