Khaberni - Besiktas, a competitor in the Turkish Football League, resorted to a strange tactic to force their Portuguese player Rafa Silva to leave during the current winter transfer window.
Silva (32 years old) joined Besiktas in the summer of 2023, on a free transfer after his contract ended with his previous team, Benfica, where he spent 8 seasons.
Besiktas Forces Their Player to Train at Dawn
Former player Oktay Derelioğlu, who previously wore the Besiktas shirt between 1993 and 1999, revealed the club's plan to force Silva to leave the club.
Derelioğlu said in an interview that the technical staff, aware of the dispute between the club and the player, had scheduled a training session for Silva at 4 a.m.
He added, "Of course, Rafa Silva did not attend when he saw that. Is there a training at four in the morning? Since he did not attend, the club sent details of the incident to FIFA."
In turn, Silva filed a complaint with FIFA to demonstrate that his life had become difficult at the club, coinciding with a similar move by the club, a decision that was not well-received by everyone in Besiktas as some prefer to solve the issue amicably considering that Rafa is currently one of the best players in the team.
Since joining Besiktas, Silva has played 65 matches in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing 16 assists, according to data from the famous "Transfermarkt" site, and he has won a single title, the Turkish Super Cup.
Besiktas currently holds the fifth position in the Turkish league standings with 29 points collected from 17 matches, trailing by 13 points behind the leader Galatasaray.
