The Arab Music Complex at the Jordan University hosts an introductory scientific symposium

Khaberni - The Jordan University hosted an introductory scientific symposium about the Arab Music Complex, as part of the music department in the Faculty of Arts and Design's commitment to acquaint students with Arab institutions supporting music and its professionals, enhancing their awareness of the importance of extracurricular activities that contribute to their academic and professional development and connect them with the Arab music scene.

The symposium was presented by Dr. Hisham Sharaf, the director of the Arab Music Complex, and was managed by Dr. Mohamed Wasef, head of the music department, who emphasized the importance of these scientific meetings in opening students' horizons to leading Arab institutional experiences, encouraging them to engage in music research, competitions, and specialized projects outside the curriculum.

In his speech, Dr. Sharaf discussed the beginnings of establishing the complex and its philosophy based on serving Arab music scientifically, research-wise, and documentarily, showcasing its ongoing activities, including peer-reviewed and electronic scientific journals, international competitions in music composition, and awards granted to individuals and institutions that have contributed to serving Arab music, in addition to the role of the complex in supporting researchers through its specialized music library, the music support fund, and promoting young talents.

He also touched on the future projects of the complex, including enhancing its digital presence through social media platforms, launching an online platform for teaching Arab music, projects concerning people with disabilities, alongside a comprehensive documentary project that chronicles a hundred years of music in the Arab world.

This symposium is part of the efforts of the music department at the Jordan University to connect students with active Arab music institutions, broaden their understanding of research opportunities and professional interaction, thereby enhancing the university's role as an active academic and cultural center in serving Arab music.
