Khaberni - France reaffirmed today, Monday, its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Denmark and Greenland, after US President Donald Trump renewed his threats to take over Greenland.
In response to a question about France's reaction, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pascal Confavreux, told TF1 television, "France stands in solidarity with Denmark; Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland and the Danish people. It is up to them to decide what they want to do. Borders cannot be changed by force."
Trump said yesterday, Sunday, in an interview with The Atlantic, "We definitely need Greenland. We need it for defense."
His remarks came a day after the United States arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and the American president stated that Washington would manage the state located in Latin America.
Yesterday, leaders of Denmark and Greenland also urged Trump to stop threatening to take over the island.
