Alayimat Requests Transfer of Railway Land Leasing Case to AntiCorruption Authority

Khaberni - Deputy Dr. Ahmed Alayimat has asked the government to transfer the file of leasing railway lands in the area of Al-Mukhaybah al-Fawqa / Al-Hamma Al-Urduniyya to the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Alayimat stated during a discussion of a parliamentary question directed to the government about land leasing, that it would have been better if these lands were leased to the local community members to benefit from them by investing, rather than granting them to beneficiaries.

He added that the actual size of the leased land is 80 dunums, and it is irrigated from the Yarmouk River, which gives it high productive and investment value. However, it was leased for only 1,400 dinars annually for a period of 15 years, a figure which is very low and does not reflect the real value of the land nor aligns with the principle of protecting public money.

He explained that realistic estimates of the fair rental value are no less than 16,000 dinars annually, a significant difference that constitutes a waste of public money.

Alayimat confirmed that the land was not advertised for leasing in accordance with what is required by the law of leasing state properties, which deprived local residents of their right to apply for leasing. Also, the land was not appraised by a specialized real estate appraiser as stipulated by law.

He pointed out that leasing the land to a person from outside the local residents clearly violates the spirit and letter of the state property leasing law, which gives priority to local residents.
