Khaberni - The Jordan Insurance Companies Union warns citizens heading to licensing centers and mobile vehicles who wish to insure their vehicles for licensing procedures against fraud and scams conducted by some unlicensed brokers who claim to complete insurance transactions.
According to a statement by the Jordan Insurance Companies Union, these individuals deceive citizens by claiming to be affiliated with the Unified Office or licensed insurance companies or licensed insurance bodies. They also misuse the union’s electronic application and charge excessive fees beyond the required premium unjustly for insuring their vehicles.
The Union advises citizens to deal with the Unified Compulsory Insurance Office designated for issuing compulsory insurance contracts in accordance with laws, regulations, and instructions through qualified and trained staff, whether through its offices inside licensing centers or mobile vehicles to obtain compulsory vehicle insurance contracts at prices and conditions set and priced by the Central Bank of Jordan. Citizens must ensure that the amount paid is the same as the insurance premium specified in the compulsory vehicle insurance contract sent via SMS to their mobile devices according to the mobile phone number set in the insurance contract during the issuance process, or by purchasing comprehensive insurance contracts from branches and agents of insurance companies in licensing centers and not to hand over vehicle documents and documents to brokers in areas around the licensing area, for fear of misuse, with emphasis on conducting this process inside registered and licensed offices endorsed by the Central Bank and carry logos of the Union or insurance company logos.
The Union's warning to citizens comes after the Union, insurance companies, and regulatory authorities received repeated complaints about being subjected to fraud, which turned out to be committed by a group of brokers engaging in fraudulent activities and scams on citizens with false pretenses such as service fees or providing roadside assistance at much higher costs than the actual cost of these services.
The Union stresses in its statement the importance of contacting the Jordan Insurance Companies Union if they suspect any fraud or requests for amounts higher than the actual cost or to approach government bodies and licensing offices to verify the entities licensed by the state to issue insurance contracts, whether compulsory, which are exclusively issued through the Unified Compulsory Insurance Office for vehicles, or through branches or agents or insurance offices licensed by the Central Bank of Jordan to issue comprehensive insurance contracts.
