Star of the Cranberry Sherbet series reveals details of his brain hemorrhage on set

Khaberni - Turkish actor Star Tanrıoğen disclosed shocking details about the health crisis he faced in 2024, which forced him to withdraw from the series "Cranberry Sherbet" after suffering a severe brain hemorrhage.

In a recent television interview, Tanrıoğen recounted that he continued working on the series set despite experiencing severe symptoms, saying he told the director Keiche, "My brain is bleeding, blood is coming out of my throat, finish my scenes quickly so I can go to the doctor."

He added that the director completed his filming before dark, emphasizing his desire not to disrupt the work due to his health condition.

After filming ended, a production car took him to his home in the Şişli area of Istanbul, but the 61-year-old actor made a decisive decision not to stay alone for fear of consequences, and hurried to his friends’ house in the Valley Konağı area where he spent an hour and a half oscillating between sleep and wakefulness.

Tanrıoğen noted that initially, doctors did not realize the severity of his condition, as the bleeding did not appear in the initial tests, only to find out later that he needed two additional surgeries on the same day.

His condition was monitored for a month and a half before he left the hospital on March 14, 2024, thus ending a critical phase of his health life that affected his continuity in the series.

Star Tanrıoğen, born on July 15, 1962 in Denizli, is famed for his distinctive roles in Turkish cinema and drama, where he stood out in the 1996 film "The Thief" with Şenar Şan, and in the series "Second Spring" which aired between 1998 and 2001. He also won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Ankara International Film Festival in 2010 for the film "Shadows and Faces".
