Bachelors in 3 Years Egyptian University Reveals the Truth About Reducing Study Duration

Khaberni - In a decisive statement to clarify the truth, Ain Shams University announced the reality of reducing the study years in the Faculty of Commerce to 3 years with the aim of alleviating the burden on students.

The university stated in an official statement today, Sunday, that the standard duration of study at the Faculty of Commerce remains four full academic years, and no decision has been issued to reduce or modify it. What has been circulated in this regard is merely a proposal to amend the academic regulations based on the credit hours system (Credit Hours), which is a globally practiced academic system. The university added that the system operates under specific conditions and terms for only outstanding students, with the possibility of completing graduation requirements in a shorter period of time, without any compromise on the scientific content or quality of qualification.

The university clarified that this proposal is currently under study and review by the relevant authorities, headed by the Supreme Council of Universities, and it will not be implemented until all legal procedures are completed and it is officially approved, confirming that in this case, it will be announced through the official channels of the university.

The Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Ain Shams University in Egypt, Dr. Fareed Mahram El-Garhy, has announced details of an update to the bachelor's degree system regulations with credit hours; the new development reduces the total required credit hours for graduation to 127 hours instead of 144 hours.

This amendment allows outstanding students to graduate in no less than three years, which relieves financial and moral burdens on families and accelerates the integration of top-performing graduates into the job market.

El-Garhy explained in press statements to local media that the current timing is appropriate for updating the academic regulations, especially with the decision by the Supreme Council of Universities to review regulations that are over five years old, pointing out that some of the current regulations date back to 2016 and have not seen significant changes.

The dean of the faculty emphasized that quality is a top priority in any academic development, noting that any new specialization offered will require at least 50% of the qualified human resources to be from within the faculty, with the possibility of utilizing professional external expertise.
