"Amman Industry" explores ways to enhance trade exchange with the Sultanate of Oman

Al-Jaghbeer: "The Chambers of Industry" encourages integrative industries with the Sultanate of Oman

Khaberni - The president of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, discussed with the ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in the Kingdom, Sheikh Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Ajili, during a meeting held at the Amman Chamber of Industry on Sunday, the ways and possibilities to enhance the bilateral trade, which still remains below ambitions, particularly in light of the special relationship that unites the two countries in terms of leadership and people.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Omani deputy ambassador to the Kingdom, Yaqoub bin Badr Al-Ruqishi, a member of the board of directors of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Saad Yaseen, and the General Manager of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Dr. Nael Husami, engineer Al-Jaghbeer emphasized the importance of establishing joint investments between the two countries among private sector activities. The focus would be on searching for relative advantages that both countries offer, ensuring these investments are integrative and serve the mutual interests.

He also expressed the willingness of the Amman Chamber of Industry to organize a visit for a Jordanian industrial delegation to the Sultanate of Oman to explore cooperation opportunities with their counterparts in Oman on the ground and to participate in the Sohar Investment Forum 2026, which will be held in February next year. He also welcomed the idea of hosting an Omani economic delegation to explore investment opportunities in Jordan.

Al-Jaghbeer looked forward to further development of economic relations between Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman in the coming period, especially since the trade exchange between the two countries still does not meet aspirations; in 2024, the trade volume reached about 167 million dollars, with Jordan’s exports accounting for about 108 million dollars against imports worth 59 million dollars.

On his part, the ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in the Kingdom, Sheikh Fahd Al-Ajili, affirmed the embassy's commitment to streamline procedures for Jordanian exporters. He noted that his country offers an attractive investment climate through recently enacted laws. He highlighted that investors can benefit from the Sultanate's geographical location near the Gulf, African, and Asian markets, as well as the low energy costs.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to exchange information between the Amman Chamber of Industry and the Omani embassy about investment opportunities in both countries, as well as the dates of exhibitions to be held. Arrangements will be made for the exchange of visits by economic delegations of businessmen from both countries. Additionally, a tour for the Omani ambassador at the Amman Chamber of Industry’s mural, which chronicles the development of the Jordanian industry, was organized.

It is worth noting that the main Jordanian exports to the Sultanate of Oman focus on vegetables, fruits, chemical industries, and machinery, while imports mainly consist of plastics, rubber products, metals, and fish.
