Khaberni - The crisis of Lebanese singer Wael Jassar's concert in Baghdad continues to dominate the scene, following the official statement issued by the management of Baghdad Palm Theater, which hosted the concert, to clarify the events of New Year's Eve and respond to the controversy following the artist's departure due to technical issues.
The management confirmed that the theater is not responsible for organizing concerts, but rather its role is limited to hosting events, while the organizing party bears full responsibility for technical and administrative aspects, including sound and lighting.
Absence of rehearsals and technical requirements
The statement clarified that the theater was handed over to the organizers one day before the concert for rehearsals as per standard procedures. However, Wael Jassar's band did not adhere to the scheduled preparation times, nor did it submit any pre-required technical requirements to the dedicated sound and lighting team, in addition to the band arriving about 40 minutes only before the concert was to start.
Emphasis on respecting and valuing the audience
The management of Baghdad Palm Theater concluded its statement by emphasizing its respect and appreciation for the audience that attended the concert, stressing that the audience remains the most important aspect of any artistic event held on the theater stage.
Wael Jassar's emotional outburst on stage
Social media platforms circulated a video clip showing Wael Jassar's emotional outburst during his concert in Baghdad as part of the New Year's 2026 celebrations, after he faced, according to him, problems with the sound system, which led him to leave the stage and openly express his dissatisfaction in front of the audience.
