Khaberni - Jordanian Customs have started implementing phase two of the Cabinet decision, which exempts from penalties associated with customs cases discovered before 1/1/2025 and governed by customs detections, offering exemption from the subsequent penalties at rates of 75% and 40% as per previous decisions.
Jordanian Customs explained that the Cabinet, continuing its sequence of exemption decisions concerning penalties for cases, had earlier decided that cases detected before 1/1/2025 would be included according to the rates specified in previous decisions and that this exemption will be extended until 30/6/2026 as a second phase of implementation in those rates. Furthermore, a complete exemption from the administrative expense penalty upon the payment of the original amount due for these cases was confirmed. This exemption will not affect any rights of the case owners at the department.
Jordanian Customs urges citizens, traders, and investors to take advantage of this decision, which was issued based on a recommendation by the Economic Update and Development Committee to encourage investment and facilitate procedures for traders and investors in settling disputes and resolving pending cases. The decision stipulates an exemption from penalties of the included cases by 40% for cases wherein their owners are not required to pay duties and taxes on the goods subject to the case and 75% for cases wherein owners are required to pay duties and taxes on the goods, provided the settlement is made before the date 30/ 6/ 2026
It should be noted that case owners have the opportunity to pay the reduced penalties in several installments, with the final installment due by the date 30/ 6/ 2026.
