Khaberni - The staff of Ajloun Governorate Agriculture Directorate, in collaboration with the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection, seized two vehicles loaded with perennial, rare, and cut trees in one of the governorate’s forests, in a clear violation of the laws and regulations that protect the forest wealth.
The Director of Agriculture in Ajloun, Rami Adwan, stated that the staff immediately responded upon receiving the report, securing quantities of cut oak and pine trees and handing them over to Ashtafina forestry station. The involved individuals and used tools were controlled, legal measures were taken against them, and they were transferred to the competent authorities to complete the investigations in accordance with the provisions of the Agriculture Law.
He emphasized that the forest trees, especially the perennial oak trees, are considered a priceless national treasure, due to their significant environmental role in preserving biodiversity, preventing soil erosion, and contributing to ecological balance. He noted that the directorate will not tolerate any assault on the forests or forest wealth.
He pointed out that the Agriculture Directorate continues to conduct intensive surveillance rounds in cooperation with the security authorities, especially during the winter season, calling on citizens to cooperate and report any violations or assaults to preserve the forest cover.
Adwan explained that protecting forests is a shared national responsibility that requires the joint efforts of official and community organizations and enhancing awareness of the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations. He indicated that the active laws impose severe penalties on anyone proven to be involved in assaulting forest trees.
