Zain Sustainabilitya solid commitment to achieving sustainable social economic and environmental impact

Khaberni - In 2025, Zain Jordan continued its strenuous efforts to embed sustainability within its strategy for the years 2020–2025 through tangible achievements that positively impact the sectors of health, education, the environment, and sustainable community development.

As one of the first national companies to adopt sustainability in its strategy; Zain Jordan was awarded the 2025 Arab Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility Prize for the large corporations category, acknowledging its long-standing commitment to sustainability as a fundamental pillar in strategic planning, thereby transforming all its programs and initiatives into an exemplary integrated model.

In health; the company continued offering its services through the free mobile clinic for children across various areas and governorates of the kingdom in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, serving over 259,000 beneficiaries. The company also renewed its collaboration with the University of Jordan and the Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) to provide healthcare services through the mobile clinic. This includes field visits to elderly homes and medical days for university students, offering medical and dental examinations and necessary treatments, in addition to health awareness campaigns.

The clinic also participated in a medical campaign for vision testing in the Mid-Jordan Valley in cooperation with the Princess Alia Foundation, and institutions ((One Sight Essilor Luxottica and the Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity (VOSH), Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Alfa Optics, where 1,074 persons were examined and about 1,000 prescription glasses were distributed free of charge, along with comprehensive services for children including clinical examinations, oral and dental health, and referral of chronic cases to specialized health entities.

In education and youth empowerment; Zain Jordan, in collaboration with the Vocational Training Corporation, Advanced Vocational Training College, and UNRWA, continued offering free training courses at its six centers on cell phone repair, electronic gaming devices maintenance, and fiber optic technology, benefiting over 2,150 young men and women, achieving a 60% employment rate of the graduates. The company also continued, for the fifth consecutive year, the "Women in Technology" program which aims to empower female university students specialized in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and digital innovation (STEM) fields to aid them in building successful career paths in a wide range of future professions, with 559 beneficiaries benefiting from the program so far. Zain supported for the eighteenth consecutive year the Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans, benefiting 170 young men and women to date, and continued backing programs from LOYAC by contributing to the renovation and rehabilitation of 7 schools across several governorates, alongside supporting the practical training program ("Your Future with Zain") that offers training opportunities for university students and recent graduates to enhance their practical and professional skills.

On an environmental level, to bolster green cover and tackle climate change and environmental resource protection; Zain Jordan in 2025 continued its various programs and initiatives, completing the planting of both forestry and fruit trees across various areas and governorates in the kingdom, planting over 18,800 trees so far in partnership with national entities concerned with environmental protection and air quality improvement. Concurrently, the company renewed its cooperation with the Princess Alia Foundation to support the Al-Mawa Nature and Wildlife Reserve, providing free wireless internet service for visitors and enhancing the interactive visitor experience and efforts in biodiversity protection.

On the operational level, to ensure maintaining a positive environmental impact; Zain Jordan continued to apply the Waste Management Framework as part of its commitment to responsible operations and reducing the environmental impact of its operations.

Moreover, facing climate change challenges, Zain Jordan was among the first national companies to automate its processes and reduce its paper usage by adopting electronic contracts and digital displays, thereby saving more than 2.5 million sheets of paper annually, preserving approximately 312 trees, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 170,000 kg, conserving over 2.5 million liters of water, and minimizing generation of about 12 tons of paper waste to date.

In water resource management, the company renewed for the eighteenth consecutive year its support for the national project for remote water quality monitoring, providing advanced communication solutions for 13 monitoring stations to enhance sustainable water management and protect this vital resource across the kingdom. The company also conducted, in cooperation with the Project Project SEA, five cleaning campaigns for the Red Sea bed in the Gulf of Aqaba, extracting 380 kilograms of waste.

The company implemented specialized programs for building green skills (Green Skills) in partnership with relevant entities to enhance sustainable job opportunities and link skills with the requirements of the green economy.

Committed to empowering people with disabilities; the company expanded its customer services initiatives for the deaf community by relaunching (Smile+ Line) and providing immediate translation services in sign language through tablets in collaboration with Royal Jordanian at its offices.

In the realm of community development; the company continued supporting the (Family and Child Helpline 110) as a national service concerned with protecting children and families from violence and abuse, alongside renewing its continuous support for refugees; where the company renewed its partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as part of the (Connectivity for Refugees) initiative to enable them access to the internet as a fundamental tool for education, communication, acquiring information, data protection, and promoting a safe environment that enhances their digital and social integration.

 

The programs and initiatives of Zain Jordan in the field of sustainability management reflect its steadfast commitment to its national role as an active partner in sustainable development, continuing to develop its approach within its strategic vision for the years 2026–2030, ensuring the continuous achievement of sustainable social, economic, and environmental impacts in the long term.
